Tamura Shihan
(b. 2 March 1933). 8th dan Aikikai. B. Osaka Prefecture. Entered the AIKIKAI HOMBU DOJO as an UCHIDESHI c. 1953. Tamura was one of the favorite UKE of Morihei UESHIBA and is seen in many films being thrown by the founder. In 1964, Tamura was dispatched by the Aikikai to France (Marseille). In 1973, along with Hiroo MOCHIZUKI and André NOCQUET, he created a "national method" as a means of improving and standardizing technical quality in France. Over the years he has acquired a large following and is the leading figure in the FÉDÉRATION FRANÇAISE D'AIKIDO ET DE BUDO. Tamura travels extensively and has established affiliated dojos and sister organizations in such countries as Italy, West Germany, the U. K. , Belgium, Switzerland and Sweden. He thus wields tremendous influence in Europe in both technical and organizational areas. Tamura was awarded the "Chevalier de l'ordre National du mérite" in 1999. How to reach the dojo with pubblic transportation
- by subway:
take the B-line, get off at station “Laurentina” then
walk for about 600 meters referring to the MAP.
- by bus:
bus number: 706, 709, 714, 779, 070, 071, 700, 705
get off at via Nairobi;
bus number: 31, 762, 763, 764, 765, C7 get off at
viale dell'Aeronautica/ Montagne Rocciose;
bus number: 072, 077, 703, 707 get off at viale
dell'Umanesimo/ S. Eugenio.
How to reach the dojo by car
- coming from outside of Rome:
from the GRA take the exit n° 25 "Cecchignola-Laurentina" direction downtown (i.e., “centro citta”). About 2,5 km from GRA you will
arrive at piazzale G. Douhet, from there refer to the MAP.
- coming from Rome:
from via C. Colombo, once arrived at the
Palalottomatica (ex Palasport), turn left at the
stoplight and take viale dell'Umanesimo; then
refer to the MAP. |
